What the 24 September update added
Heartopia’s 24 September update is out and Tidebell has caught up with it. The full list has every new item. Here’s what stood out.
Night of Divination
The next festival, Night of Divination, runs from 10 October to 20 November. Its theme is witches, owls and ravens, and it brings 20 new creatures you can only catch while it lasts:
- Six fish: three cuttlefish (spineless, pharaoh and golden) and three sea angels (blue, green and purple).
- Five dung beetles dressed as food: shiitake, mandarin, strawberry, pumpkin and truffle.
- Five ravens to match: apple, mandarin, strawberry, pumpkin and truffle.
- Three bats and the Palau scops owl.
Ravens turn up near Onsen Mountain and the Flower Field, and more festival birds hide in the hollow trees on Forest Island. Each creature’s page has the weather and hours it needs.
From 17 October each group gets its own event:
- Spectral Shoal at the Old Sea beach in northern Onsen Mountain, or start it with Vanya.
- Raven’s Hoard at the birdwatching area in the Suburbs, or start it from a birdwatching device.
- Dung Beetle Mutation at the bug-catching area in the southern forest, or start it with Naniwa.
There are weekly challenges for all six weeks, a server-wide Collector’s Challenge from 24 October to 6 November, hollow trees to search for gifts and honey mushrooms to pick near the Fishing Village Square. The new Cape Gooseberry crop (ripe in 15 minutes) and the spider lily in ten colors can only be planted during the festival. Festival food is cooked on the new Stump Stove.
In the kitchen
There are 27 new recipes: eight Cape Gooseberry hot cocoas (plain and with apple, mandarin, blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, grape or pineapple), six creamy pumpkin soups, four tom yum cuttlefish noodles and the Gloomwood Meal. For Mid-Autumn there’s a Moon Rabbit lava mooncake and osmanthus roasted milk tea, and there are six My Little Pony cupcakes (Twilight Sparkle, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Applejack).
Mid-Autumn
The Mid-Autumn event runs from 25 September to 11 October. Its store sells five ready-made sea lanterns and the recipe for a Lotus Sea Lantern. You can display them at home or release them at the seaside, and a Lotus Sea Lantern carries a message and stays near the shore for a while so others can read it. There’s Moon Rabbit and osmanthus furniture to go with it, and a Moon Rabbit lantern dress for your cat.
White Snake’s Journey
From 30 September to 25 October there’s a board game based on the legend of the White Snake. Every move costs a die and you pick up Lingzhi as you go, which you spend in the exchange store (open until 1 November). You get up to five dice a day from resident requests and more from event quests. A Remote Control Dice lets you choose your roll, and Double Lingzhi doubles what the next move collects.
Interact face to face with the same friend on seven days and you both get a new two-person action, The Bond of Green & White. The event gives out lotus dresses and hairstyles, and the Acorn Store has the rest of the look, including a Fahai monk robe and a teal scale bamboo dress.
New exhibitions
- Starspell Voyager (26 September to 27 November): Cat Witch and Owl Messenger outfits, plus a Lost City train station to build, with a steam locomotive, coaches, a clocktower roof, an iron arch bridge and glass domes.
- Caramel Bakery and Hidden Self (22 October to 1 December): bread, cream and waffle outfits, and the Apple Demon.
Also new
- Elevators. Stack elevator shafts in Build Mode for a lift with several floors, stretch one to set its height, and call it with the button by the door.
- Dance notation. Choreograph a dance, give it a title and a cover, and publish it with Dance Publishing Permits. There are three songs to dance to: Firefly, Tide and New Spring Tide.
- A record store. The Music CD Store sells 21 records of the game’s music, from Beach Utopia to Secrets of the Deep Palace.
- Mannequins and costume racks at the Research Store, including racks for your cat’s and dog’s outfits, and an Inspiration Card Table for card readings with other players.
- Birthdays. Set yours (you can change it once a year) and write a birthday wish.
- Hot air balloon rides over the Flower Field. They don’t run in rain or snow.
- Certificates for pumpkin carvings, snow sculptures and sand sculptures, and five huge pumpkin pieces.
Coming later
- Party Festival season 4 starts on 31 October. There are new hide and seek maps and party titles like Master of Hiding and Bubble Buster.
- A Business Season is set for 12 December, with shop customers and land plots to build on.
Renamed items
Ghost Pumpkin Cookie is now Pumpkin Cat Cookie, Ghost Pumpkin Tart is now Spooky Pumpkin Tart, the Chestnut-Cheeked Starling is now the Violet-Backed Starling, Barber Toolbox is now Hair Tool Organizer and Take a Bath is now Pumpkin Hot Spring.
