The Explorer's parked behind the camp right now. Looks like it's been fixed, but... put simply, it's about as useful as a broken engine. So, not really.

Still, I go check on it every now and then.

I mean, you wouldn't throw your shoes into the ocean just because they're worn out, would you? I wouldn't, anyway.

You know when the seabed's at its quietest?

It's not midnight. It's early morning—when the first light starts seeping down from above.

Even the fish seem to slow down... it feels like the whole canyon is breathing.

If I'm awake then, I'll start the first round of equipment checks. Just me. Real quiet.

I heard the team's been running a lot smoother since Jiyoon took over.

She really is a better leader than I ever was. I think everyone kind of knew that.

I've always known it, honestly... I just didn't know what I actually wanted back then. Someone else put me in that spot.

Getting out of it? Felt like a relief, honestly.

Now I've finally found something I actually want to do.

Sometimes I catch myself wondering—checking gear every day, keeping the waters clean, making sure nothing's sick down here... is this really what my life is supposed to be about?

Then I take a look at the coral near the whalefall. Last time it was caked in gunk. Now? I can actually see its real color again.

That alone makes my day better. Suddenly, it all feels worth it.

My aunt always says, "Whatever you do, you've gotta think big."

She'd probably never get why someone would rather spend their days underwater, just to bring a little color back to some coral.

...Ah well. Everyone's got their own version of "big."

Rory says my life goal sounds kind of boring. So what exactly is supposed to be exciting?

I mean, watching fancy rocks all day seems pretty boring to me—but she can do that for hours and love it.

Guess it's fine if it feels worth it to you.

Shifting magnetic fields, changing currents, and wandering marine life keep bringing new pollutants into the canyon. Think you could head over and give it a sweep? I'll take you there.
